The Bounding Box Scattering rollout is part of the Scatter parameters.

Bounding Box Scattering

This submenu is only available when the scattering mode is set to 3D - In a Bounding Box.

Instances Count – Gives the total number of instances on all Host objects. Note that adding Area Modifiers or defining Slope Limitation will decrease this number. If the Per Cubic Volume option is enabled, the scattering is defined by the density. See the Instances Count example below.

Per Cubic Volume – When enabled, the number of instances is determined by the count combined with the size of the host's bounding box volume. The value specifies the length of the distribution cube's side/edge. If the Count value is set to 1, this number determines the relative density of the instances. See the Per Cubic Volume example below.

Examples: Instances Count and Per Cubic Volume

This example shows the bounding box guest objects distribution by Instances Count and Per Cubic Volume.

01_Scatter_BBoxScattering_InstancesCount_40

Instances Count = 40

04_Scatter_BBoxScattering_InstancesCount_5000

Instances Count = 5000

01_Scatter_BBoxScattering_InstancesCount_1000_PCV_125

Instances Count = 1000; Per Cubic Volume = 125

02_Scatter_BBoxScattering_InstancesCount_1000_PCV_250

Instances Count = 1000; Per Cubic Volume = 250

04_Scatter_BBoxScattering_InstancesCount_1_PCV_10

Instances Count = 1; Per Cubic Volume = 10

05_Scatter_BBoxScattering_InstancesCount_1_PCV_20

Instances Count = 1; Per Cubic Volume = 20
