SKETCHUP

Overview

V-Ray for SketchUp Building Scene goes up to 66% and then the rendering stops.

Cause and Solution

Most often this is caused by a faulty component downloaded somewhere from the Internet.

There are a few ways to troubleshoot the issue by debugging the project and finding the component/s causing this.

  • Copy objects to a new scene and see if that resolves it

  • Open the V-Ray Messages Window and see if there are any errors or warnings recorded

  • Open the Ruby Console (Window > Ruby Console) to check for any messages

Usually, if there is something specific causing the issue, it will appear inside the Ruby Console (for example: can’t clone NilClass; mesh_light_controller:45:in ‘update!’ - meaning that the faulty components in this particular case are related to some lights) .

  • Go to the Default tray > Components, and show the Components used in this project

  • Start deleting anything unnecessary and suspicious. After doing a batch of deleting, try to render again to see if the issue is fixed. If not, continue deleting component by component and render until the culprit is found.

If you are still struggling and can’t seem to find the particular root cause, please contact Chaos Support through our Contact Form. Use the Pack Project tool found in Extensions > V-Ray > Pack project.
