This page provides information on uninstalling V-Ray for Maya.


Overview

The V-Ray installer automatically uninstalls any previous versions before installing a newer version. If you need to manually uninstall V-Ray, please make sure that Maya or V-Ray components are not being used. For silent uninstallation, see the Silent Install and Uninstall page. 


Uninstalling V-Ray

The Uninstallation process varies depending on the Operating System, see the appropriate tab for your system.



The Uninstaller originally resides in the following location - C:\Program Files\Chaos Group\V-Ray\Maya 20xx for x64\vray\uninstall

To access the V-Ray uninstaller from the Start menu, search for Uninstall V-Ray for Maya20xx for x64.

This starts the V-Ray uninstaller. Follow the on-screen instructions to remove V-Ray from your system and restore any files overwritten by the installation.


Uninstalling the License Server

To remove the Chaos License Server, either use the Add/Remove Programs applet from the Control Panel or select Chaos Group > Uninstall Chaos License Server.


Uninstalling the Plug-In

V-Ray installer will automatically uninstall any previous versions.

If you need to manually uninstall V-Ray, make sure that Maya or V-Ray components are not being used. Double-click the uninstaller.app program, which is normally located in /Applications/ChaosGroup/V-Ray/Maya20xx/vray/VRay.app/Contents/MacOS/uninstall

This will start the V-Ray uninstaller. Follow the on-screen instructions to remove V-Ray from your system and restore any files overwritten by the installation.


Uninstalling the License Server

To uninstall the Chaos License Server, open the uninstaller directory in Finder, which by default is /Applications/ChaosGroup/VRLService/OLS/uninstall/ and double-click the uninstaller application. Choose the Chaos License Server program from the list of programs to uninstall and click the Uninstall button to remove it.


Note: The uninstaller will not remove the V-Ray license configuration files or any other files that you have modified manually after the installation.


Uninstalling the Plug-In

To uninstall V-Ray for Maya, start with root permissions the uninstaller program, which is normally located in the /usr/ChaosGroup/V-Ray/Maya 20xx-x64/vray/uninstall/ directory, for example:

$sudo
$ /usr/ChaosGroup/V-Ray/Maya2018-x64/uninstall/uninstaller
follow the instructions of the uninstaller
$ exit

Note: The uninstaller will not remove the V-Ray license configuration files or any other files that you have modified manually after the installation.


Uninstalling the License Server

To uninstall the Chaos License Server on Linux, start with root permissions the uninstall program, which is normally located in the /usr/ChaosGroup/VRLService/OLS/uninstall/ directory:

$ sudo
$ /usr/ChaosGroup/VRLService/OLS/uninstall/uninstaller
follow the instructions of the uninstaller
$ exit

Note: The uninstaller will not remove the V-Ray license configuration files or any other files that you have modified manually after the installation.
