If you add a new version of a job you have already submitted, its upload will be much quicker than the initial upload. Chaos Cloud compares every new job to the existing ones, and if there is a match the client app will upload only the changes. This is useful when you make a new iteration of an existing scene and is why it's recommended to keep your jobs in Chaos Cloud while you are still working on them.

Submitting Render Jobs

V-Ray for Maya provides in-built integration with Chaos Cloud, allowing you to submit render jobs to the cloud directly from Maya, using the dedicated Render in Chaos Cloud button. The button is located on the V-Ray Shelf and can also be found in the V-Ray Menu.

Clicking on the button will open the Submit to Chaos Cloud window.

Submit to Chaos Cloud

The Submit to Chaos Cloud window allows you to choose how to submit your scene to Chaos Cloud.

Clicking on Export and Submit will export the scene and submit it to the cloud for rendering. You will be prompted to finalize some of the settings for the render job in a web browser before it starts rendering in Chaos Cloud.

You can choose to do all final settings directly in Maya and then submit the scene to Chaos Cloud with the Enable Direct Submit Options button.

Enable Direct Submit Options

If you enable the Direct Submit Options, you can enter you Chaos Cloud login information directly in Maya and choose to which Chaos Cloud project to submit the job.

In the Layer and Camera panel you can specify a render camera from the current layer. Note that you can only choose a renderable camera from the current layer.

The Login Information panel allows you to select a project where the render job is submitted. The Manage Login button will take you to your Chaos Cloud account should you need to do any changes.

Abort on Warnings – When enabled, the scene will not be submitted to the Chaos Cloud if there are any warnings during the scene processing, such as missing textures or other assets.

Refresh – Forces a refresh of the window.

Close – Closes the Submit to Chaos Cloud window.

Additional Render Settings

In the Common tab of the Render settings reside two resides an additional options option when submitting a scene to the cloud.

To override an enabled render region in the VFB, you can use the Disable region rendering in batch mode option from the Render View rollout. When submitting an animation, you can use the Render animation only in batch mode option from the Animation rollout. It enables rendering of animations only for Chaos Cloud. Otherwise, the render window will render all frames between Start Frame and End Frame. This may give the appearance of long render times.
