Chaos Scans is automatically installed with the typical V-Ray installation. However, to plugin is available with V-Ray and Corona installations and allows the use of Chaos Scans downloaded from Chaos Scans Material Library. To tweak a Scans material in a scene, a separate license for the Chaos Scans plugin must be available through your Online license account.

In V-Ray 6 and later, the Scanned Material doesn't require an additional render license. In V-Ray versions earlier than V-Ray 6, rendering Scanned Materials requires a separate license, otherwise images render with a watermark.

License Setup

Chaos Scans is licensed the same way Vas Corona and V-Ray, and uses the Online Licensing System (alternatively, for older versions - hardware dongle based license).
Those who already have a dongle for V-Ray will have their Scans license added to their existing dongle which can be updated easily, as shown in the next section of this page. Those with existing Online Licenses will have the Scans license added to their accounts. Online Licensing is outlined below for your information.
Updating an Existing Dongle
Chaos License Server. The Chaos Scans license is visible in your existing Chaos license account.
If you have additional Scans licenses to an existing USB dongle, it will require reprogramming with a new license file. For more details on how this is done, please see the Dongle Reprogramming page.Anchor
